DIY Upgrade for the Japanese Panasonic SL-GC10-S
Please Note that to upgrade a Panasonic Q is not a simple process and requires a great deal of skill and patience. Ensure you are capable before ordering the kit. Returns of this product will not be accepted.
Features of the Kit
* All Region DVD both NTSC and PAL *
* MP3 Playback *
* Macrovision Disabled *
* Selectable Japanese or USA Game Mode *
NB : The ONLY time the unit will output PAL is when playing PAL DVD's. At all other times output will be NTSC. For use on 240V you will still need a voltage converter.
First of all it's important to know whether your Q's DVD section is currently Region 2 NTSC only OR All Region NTSC and also whether Macrovision is currently enabled or disabled. You should check this with your supplier or try a Region 1 disc , if the unit plays the Region 1 disc then it has already been converted to All Region NTSC , if you are unsure about the status of Macrovision then dont worry we can address that later.
If your Q is Region 2 NTSC only then you must first rent our Panasonic upgrade disk to convert the unit to ALL Region NTSC with Macrovision disabled. You can rent this disk by following the link below.

In order to play PAL discs we must fit an additional memory chip , 6 capacitors , a link and a 12c508A modchip to the DVD board of the Q as shown in the pictures below. On rare occasions it is also necessary to replaced the existing memory chip inside the player to get a perfect match with the new one. This extra memory chip is included in the kit but should only be fitted if you experience corruption of the OSD menus after upgrading and then playing a PAL DVD.

Connect 4 wires to the modchip's pins 1,5,6 and 8 then join them to the points below. You may also need to configure this modchip depending on the status of macrovision on your unit , if macrovision is disabled then you must join pins 7 and 8 of the modchip together before fitting it , if macrovision is still active then there is no need to configure the chip. If you do not know the status of macrovision on your unit you can try both ways. With the wrong configuration no discs will play. After fitting you must insulate and secure the chip. Please note this Modchip is marked D.
Now that DVD is sorted we turn our attention to playing USA Gamecube games , this is done by fitting a 12c508a Modchip (Marked G) to both the front panel and the Gamecube board ( deep in the heart of the machine!! ) Entering USA Game mode is done by holding the power key on the front panel for 3 seconds as you power the unit on.

You've read all the information above and still think you are able to do this conversion ?
All that remains to be said is that if you mess this up then you're on your own, I will not offer to look at any failed upgrades sorry.
